Armada de la Liberté, 17 July 1994
During the week from 10th July 1994 to 17th July, dozens of great ships
gathered in Rouen (Normandy, France) (yes, there are
Web servers in Rouen, at the local Computer Center or at the
Network Center) to celebrate the 50th
anniversary of
the Allied landing in Normandy during World-War II. Hence the name of the event "Armada de la Liberté" (Freedom Fleet). The previous edition ("Les voiles
de la Liberté", "Freedom Sails") was in 1989
for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.
Several millions of people visited this exhibition.
On the 17th July, the boats sailed to Le Havre, down the river Seine.
