Armada de la Liberté, 17 July 1994

During the week from 10th July 1994 to 17th July, dozens of great ships gathered in Rouen (Normandy, France) (yes, there are Web servers in Rouen, at the local Computer Center or at the Network Center) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy during World-War II. Hence the name of the event "Armada de la Liberté" (Freedom Fleet). The previous edition ("Les voiles de la Liberté", "Freedom Sails") was in 1989 for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.

Several millions of people visited this exhibition.

On the 17th July, the boats sailed to Le Havre, down the river Seine.

Here is a first list of boats. For each boat, you can have detailed information and pictures if you wish:

Thanks to Marc Delhomelle and Eve Demazière for the pictures. The scanning was done by Stéphane Bortzmeyer who is therefore responsible for the low quality.
