TASK 4: EXPLOIT THE MODELS TO PROPOSE STRATEGIES TO CONTROL THE SPREAD OF PATHOGENS IN HEALTHCARE SETTINGS.

Task leader: Laura Temime & Lulla Opatowski in collaboration with partner 1 (MESuRS), partner 2 (B2PHI)  , partner 3 (EHESP) and partner 4 (CCLIN).

Eventually, integrating the different scales in a single framework will enable the simulation of the complex dynamics of HAI dissemination. We will use this model to better understand and quantify the joint role played by multi-scale phenomena on the global diffusion of HAI in hospitals, addressing four main questions while taking into account model uncertainty: (1) How do multiple drug exposure and pathogen diversity influence HAI selection in hospitals? (2) What is the role of HCW schedules and patient movements on HAI spread within and between hospitals? (3) How may control strategies on a local scale impact the global risk for HAI selection? Would more harmonized solutions among all hospitals of a healthcare region improve control [10] ? (4) Which combinations of multi-scale strategies have the best cost-effectiveness ratios and are most likely to be accepted by patients, HCWs and health authorities?
