TASK 5: ASSESS THE EPIDEMIC VULNERABILITY OF THE HOSPITAL SYSTEM AT DIFFERENT SCALES.
Task leader: Vittoria Colizza partner 5
This task aims at applying a novel analytical framework developed by Partner 5 that allows the computation of the epidemic threshold, i.e. the degree of vulnerability of a host population to disease epidemics, once we account for the time variation of its contact pattern. Through a more conceptual point of view, the approach will be able to synthesize the results obtained through numerical simulations in task 1-3, identify the mechanisms responsible for the resulting vulnerability, provide an alternative means to assess the control strategies of task 4 and evaluate their efficacy in reducing the vulnerability of the hospital system at different scales.
Our aim is to provide a systemic assessment of the epidemic risk of the hospital system at various scales.
